Gorillas

I always thought it was a bit odd that Chimpanzees were used by one of the huge UK tea bag producers to advertise their tea. What were they trying to say? That you had to be a monkey to drink their tea? That only monkeys drink their tea? Did they dress the monkeys up as humans to really emphasise the point that drinkers of their tea were monkeys masquerading as more highly developed creatures? Hmm. Clearly I don’t know much about marketing because it was a really successful advertising campaign.

It got me thinking; if chimps sell black tea bags I need to go one better to sell fine green and white lose leaf. Think big. Great apes. I went along to the new Gorilla’s enclosure at Regent’s Park in London to see if they might be interested.

They seemed almost more human than some of the people gawping at them but I can’t see anyone getting a Silver Back into a dress.

Oh well, probably for the best.
