White Peony – Darjeeling White Tea

This white tea is so meticulously crafted that these most delicate spring leaves are kept whole and intact. This is perhaps the most delicate tea in the world.

The flavour is extremely soft. This is the lightest tea we have ever found. 

It comes from Makaibari where Swaraj Kumar Banerjee, known as Rajah, is a 4th generation tea planter who cares immeasurably about the land, the people who live and work on it and creates the finest tea imaginable.

Two thirds of the Makaibari Estate is untouched, virgin forest.

It's hard to imagine that so much land in such a famous tea growing region would be left uncultivalted. It's like owning a vineyard in Champagne and not growing grapes on two thirds of your land. But Rajah is an extraordinary man. He is concerned with protecting the unique ecosystem and the rich variery of flora and fauna that still exist in the foothills of the Himalayas. There are tigers on his land.
