Sikkim First Flush Muscatel

Sikkim First Flush Muscatel is a tea that resembles Darjeeling. This is not surprising as Sikkim is a neighbouring region of Darjeeling. The taste is therefore very familiar to me: deliciously light with a floral and sweet muscatel aroma. Thanks to Henrietta's profound expertise, I have a cup of this wonderful tea. Thank you so much, dear Henrietta and your very nice team at Rare Tea.

Exquisite flavor

I gravitate to the Sikkim on particularly stressful work days - it is the perfect tea to take a moment to reset. Try both recommended green-style and black-style infusions for a different, delightful tasting experience.

Tasting Notes

Crafted as a black tea it is lighter, more ethereal than later harvests - almost like a silky green tea but with heady florals, deep richness and all the verdant sweetness of spring.  It infuses to a pale golden cup.

Quantity

Use 2.5g of tea per 150ml of water.

Temperature

For a green style infusion use 75°C (167°F) water.

For a black style infusion use water at 85°C (185°F).

Time

Infuse for 1 - 2 minutes, tasting regularly.

Infusions

You can infuse this tea at least twice.  With each careful infusion, different subtleties of flavour are revealed.

Cost Per Cup

42p per cup based on 2.5g of tea per 150ml of water and 2 infusions.
